The Smith Family | Boise Idaho Family Photographer

Meet the Smiths. Audrey reached out to me because she loved the idea of a snapshot of their everyday. She wanted their personalities to shine through and since posed portraits can be so separated from time and routine, this was a perfect match. She also told me something that melted my heart, "My parents had a shoot like this one done when they were young with young children. Professional candids are rare even today, so to have them from the 80's is nearly priceless. It's like a time window into their life back then, a phase which my husband and I are now experiencing. I want our boys to be able to see us for what we were really like, not just posed photos." WOW! I want to see those 1980's candids so badly!

This family has the cutest tradition of all hanging out in the master bed in the morning. They take turns snuggling, talking and watching their boys' brother relationship continue to grow.

Then it's time for diaper changes, coffee making, feeding the dog and breakfast.

Yep, he spilled all that dog food on the ground. Good thing there's a dog to clean it up!

These two are beautifully attentive parents. They are present, patient, and positive. They laugh things off, support each other and love on their kiddos! One of my favorite things about these sessions is to see the parental interaction with the kids and with each other. I know the kids won't have memories of these early years in their life, but they need to know how much they were loved and served every day.

After a lazy Saturday morning, it was time to get dressed and ready for the day and go play out in the backyard.

Even in documentary photography, I still aim to get environmental portraits of the kids. I know they are important and cherished photos and they do happen naturally. There is no pulling teeth here.

Liam was the dog poop spotter for Dad.

Super mom right here with two little ones wanting to be in her arms at once.

Thank you Smith family for trusting me to freeze time in your busy little family life. I hope you two and the boys will love and cherish these photos for years to come.
