5 MORE reasons why you need to think about and maybe get family photos now

More? There's more? YES! If you missed my first 5 reasons, follow this link.

Otherwise, let's just jump in.

1. Life is happening right now, not just in the fall

I get it, fall has it’s beautiful color and it’s still not freezing outside. My fall wardrobe is a billion times better than my summer stuff. It’s got layers and warm, soft fabrics and BOOTS! Can’t forget the boots!

But each season of life and of nature has it’s beauty and change inside and outside the home.

2. Life happens more than just one day you choose to photograph

Maybe you want to plan to do a few shoots or include a birthday party or extended family. It’s so much better to know at the beginning of the year what your photo session goals are so you can get on the schedule and be prepared.

3. Develop your relationship with your photographer over a few months

What would happen if you hired a photographer you didn’t trust or feel comfortable around? Awkward family pictures, that’s what.

Find your photographer now, get together at a coffee shop, become friends, share stories about your kids so when it’s shoot time, everyone is more comfortable and ready for the session.

4. Don’t let a Christmas card direct your life decisions

I get it, but I don’t. Yes, Christmas cards are great and you want to get the photos taken right before you send them out since the kids grow up so fast and it’ll be outdated in a few months. I get it. You can send a Christmas card with a summer photo on it. Or a collage of photos throughout the year.

We wait until the fall to get them taken, trying to justify that it’s for the Christmas card, but why are you really getting photos taken? To mail to your friends and family who maybe have already seen that photo on social media?

No. We get photos taken because we are trying to preserve this little slice of time, trying to capture what the kiddos faces looked like in the spring of 2020. We get them taken for ourselves. Not for others.

More on that here.

5. Start a payment plan now, and have multiple low payments every month so it’s all paid for by the time you shoot

Ending on the financial side again. Many people make monthly low payments all year long to be ready for the session. It can be so much harder to say yes to your ideal photographer when you pay them everything up front. It can hurt a little bit, although you know it’s the best investment you’ll make all year.

So why not just make it easy on the wallet and make small payments so you can get the photographer, the prints and the albums without stressing over the finances.

There they are!
